How to Save an Open Bottle of Champagne

champagne stopper

Cheers to yet another reason to drink bubbly all the time! Did you know you can actually keep an opened bottle of Champagne or sparkling wine fresh and fizzy for up to FIVE days?

The misconception that you have to finish the bottle in one sitting or it will lose its fizz is one of the main reasons why people hesitate to open Champagne and sparkling wine. Here are our 3 tricks for preserving those bubbles!

Invest in a Champagne Stopper

The first and most important tip is to use a proper stopper. Just by using a Champagne-specific stopper, you can keep the open bottle fresh for days. Liberating news isn’t it?

Discovering the Bouchon Champagne Stopper has been a game-changer for me and so many of my friends. If you're a bubbles lover, this is a must-have! Shop some of my favorite stoppers here: Twine rose gold stopper, Crate&Barrel chrome stopper, Williams-Sonoma stainless steel stopper.

Keep It Chilly

Secondly, keep the bottle cold. Storing an opened bottle of Champagne or sparkling wine in the refrigerator helps the pressure remain low, therefore preserving the bubbles for longer and maintaining freshness.

Plan Ahead

Lastly, if you're not planning on finishing a bottle in one sitting, you may want to open something that you have recently purchased. Bottles that you've been storing or aging for some time are not ideal to save for several days once opened. After all, most bubbles are meant to be enjoyed soon after they leave the winery.

Hopefully, these tips inspire you to pop open a delicious bottle today! Check out more of my tips on better enjoying your bubbly HERE.
