Champagne Cordeuil Père et Fille Brut Reserve
Producer: Cordeuil Père et Fille
Region: Nos Les Mallets, Champagne, France
Variety: 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay
Color: White
Bottle Size: 750ml
Tasting Notes: Yellow in color with golden reflections (from the long aging) reveals a complex nose, with notes of candied fruits, dried fruits, and a nice touch of smoky evolution. This rich champagne on the palate is well balanced, revealing aromas of mature fruits.
Pairing: Pairs beautifully with savory, umami-rich dishes like roasted poultry or duck glazed with apricot or fig, aged cheeses like Comté or Gruyère, or a wild mushroom tart. The wine's depth and balance also complement dishes with caramelized flavors, such as seared scallops or butternut squash ravioli with brown butter and sage
Producer Info: Champagne Cordeuil is a family-owned champagne house with three generations of history. In 1950, Jeannine and Raymond Cordeuil planted Pinot Noir vines in the southern AOC Champagne region, initially selling their fruit to a cooperative. In 1971, they began producing their own champagne, launching the Cordeuil brand. Gilbert, their son, took over in 1985 after apprenticing with his father. Today, the 4-hectare estate in the Côte des Bars is run by Gilbert and his daughter Erlande, now known as Champagne Cordeuil Père & Fille (“Father and Daughter”). With an annual production of fewer than 40,000 bottles, the house emphasizes quality and sustainability. Their organically certified vineyards are farmed without herbicides, using natural grass management through mowing and plowing. They are known best for creating champagne with long cellar aging (at least 8 years). Champagne Cordeuil produces refined, mature wines that showcase the unique character of their grapes and terroir. With very small production of all their cuvées, they make terroir-focused champagnes highlighting the beautiful soils that the Cote des Bars is known for.
