Tasting Notes: This champagne reveals notes of pastries. Its attack, still bright in the mouth, is completed with its beautiful freshness, revealing flavors of dried fruits and roasted hazelnuts. In this perfectly balanced champagne, the finesse of the Chardonnay takes over.
Pairing: Because of the long aging, this wine would pair wonderfully with a range of comforting meals with cream like cheesy pastas, mushroom risotto or chicken in a butter white wine sauce.
Producer Info: Champagne Cordeuil is a family-owned champagne house with three generations of history. In 1950, Jeannine and Raymond Cordeuil planted Pinot Noir vines in the southern AOC Champagne region, initially selling their fruit to a cooperative. In 1971, they began producing their own champagne, launching the Cordeuil brand. Gilbert, their son, took over in 1985 after apprenticing with his father. Today, the 4-hectare estate in the Côte des Bars is run by Gilbert and his daughter Erlande, now known as Champagne Cordeuil Père & Fille (“Father and Daughter”). With an annual production of fewer than 40,000 bottles, the house emphasizes quality and sustainability. Their organically certified vineyards are farmed without herbicides, using natural grass management through mowing and plowing. They are known best for creating champagne with long cellar aging (at least 8 years). Champagne Cordeuil produces refined, mature wines that showcase the unique character of their grapes and terroir. With very small production of all their cuvées, they make terroir-focused champagnes highlighting the beautiful soils that the Cote des Bars is known for.
