The Ultimate Guide to Hosting a Bubbles Tasting

Are you ready to add some sparkle to your next gathering? A champagne tasting is the perfect way to do just that! Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or just looking to have some fun, hosting a champagne tasting is a great way to bring people together and celebrate life’s special moments. Here are some best practices to help you make your event a huge success:

hosting a bubbles tasting
  1. Choose Your Bubbles Wisely Select a variety of champagnes and sparkling wines that showcase different styles, regions, and flavor profiles. Don't be afraid to experiment with different blends and vintages, but also make sure to include some crowd-pleasers for those who may not be as adventurous. We have put together, the perfect selection of bubbles for you to taste side-by-side in our Tasting Kit.
  2. Be Prepared Make sure you have enough glasses on hand, as it is best to give each guest 3 of the same wine glasses. A white wine glass is best for tasting purposes (see more on selecting glassware here). And don’t forget to chill the bottles ahead of time. Aim to serve the bubbles at the right temperature, which is around 45°F (a little warmer than your refrigerator).
  3. Serve Light Bites Bubbles are the perfect wine to pair along side a wide range of foods. Provide light snacks such as cheese, fruit, and crackers to help cleanse the palate between tastings. This will also help slow down the drinking pace and allow you more time to enjoy the experience. Explore a few of my favorite bubbles-friendly recipes for some inspiration.

  4. Set the Mood Create a beautiful ambiance by setting the table before your guests arrive for the tasting. Candles and fresh flowers are beautiful centerpieces, but make sure you don't choose anything too potent - you don't want the aromas conflicting with the wine tasting. Oh, and don't forget the music! We created a French inspired playlist for you to enjoy.

  5. Encourage Conversation A bubbles tasting is not only about the wine, but also about the social experience. Encourage conversation by asking your guests to share their thoughts and opinions on each wine reminding them that there are NO wrong observations.

  6. Compare Tasting Notes At the conclusion of the tasting, review the tasting notes and producer information provided by the QR code at the end of the Tasting Kit Script. This will give everyone a chance to learn about the wine they’re sipping on and will also provide a starting point for discussion.

Hosting a champagne tasting can be a fun and sophisticated way to bring people together. By following these best practices, you can ensure that your guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience. So, pop open a bottle, raise a glass, and let the bubbles begin!
