When most people think of Champagne, they picture something pale, crisp, and golden — but one of the most expressive and deeply flavorful styles in the region is Blanc de Noirs. Translating to “white from blacks,” Blanc de Noirs is a white Champagne made entirely from black-skinned grapes — most commonly Pinot Noir and Meunier. These wines are beloved for their richness, depth, complex personality and sometime blush hue.
While Blanc de Blancs (made from Chardonnay) is known for its elegance and minerality, Blanc de Noirs brings a different energy: bold, structured, and layered. It’s the perfect bottle when you're craving something with a little more texture and intrigue — or when you want a Champagne that can stand up to a rich meal.
At We Drink Bubbles, we’ve long been champions of small-batch, grower-made Champagnes, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been working on a very special Blanc de Noirs cuvée in partnership with Lucien Collard, one of our most beloved producers in Bouzy, Champagne. (More on this special project here)
Stay tuned — more details will be coming soon for our Club Members. In the meantime, if you haven’t explored the world of Blanc de Noirs yet, I encourage you to shop for a bottle and discover why this style has quietly become a favorite among sommeliers and Champagne lovers alike.
